Denali
(aka Mt. McKinley, Alaska)

I have had the great pleasure to climb on Denali several times. It is an incredible experience that is never the same as the last time. A climb on Denali is a test of mental as well as physical endurance. The climber has to be prepared for bitter cold (-80 degree wind chill factor on summit day!) as well as great physical exertions. (Each climber carries approximately 150 pounds of gear and food.) Crevasse and avalanche danger abounds every where on the mountain, so climbers must constantly stay alert. Still, the mountain provides great rewards for those willing to try. If you respect the mountain, it will be kind to you. Whether waiting out a blizzard in a floorless tent or winding through a crevasse field, Denali shows true beauty at every turn.

I look forward to my next trip to this truly spectacular landscape.

Some of these images are rather large, but they are well worth the wait! Enjoy!
